Tour Description:
In town: In Nördlingen, history really is "written in stone"… in the city wall, imposing St. George’s Church, stately Rathaus, Ries Crater Museum, Geopark Center, and much more.
In a wooded park: Located just outside Nördlingen, the Marienhöhe can be reached by foot and is a lovely setting to discuss the region’s fascinating geology and history – rocks created by the impact and lake deposits, the tragedy of witch trials, drama of war, tradition of beer brewing, and more.
In the countryside: Travel back in time while walking up the Riegelberg. Roman ruins to Celtic princes to Stone Age rituals to meteorite impact… all in a protected natural area on a hill of the "megablock" zone.
Tailor your tour: Tours can be combined (minimum one hour per location, plus travel). Riegel-berg requires private car or bus. "Virtual Tour" of Geopark (lecture-presentation) also possible at your location. Ask for details.
